Dear ,

Welcome to the EMVA newsletter! Each month it provides hands-on information on machine vision in Europe and the world. Find out about the latest projects of the EMVA, innovative products, what's going on in the machine vision industry and interesting events.

Together we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting all our families, our businesses, our communities and our way of life.

First and foremost, our thoughts are with all those who are directly or indirectly affected by the virus, especially those who are ill, to whom we wish with all our hearts a full and speedy recovery. We also recognize the many selfless healthcare professionals around the world who are working tirelessly at the forefront of this pandemic to care for those whose need is greatest.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the entire EMVA team is strongly encouraged to work from home. This transition is working relatively smoothly and we continue to offer the highest levels of performance and availability. Although we continue to move into uncharted territory, the EMVA can assure you that we will endeavor to maintain all the essential functions and services of the association and continue to support our members throughout this period.

Thomas Lübkemeier
Kind regards,
Thomas Lübkemeier
EMVA General Secretary

EMVA Business Conference 2020

Image Several activities of the EMVA are currently affected by the current uncertain situation due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The 18th EMVA Business Conference 2020, 25 – 27 June in Sofia, Bulgaria, is directly affected by this at the moment, although its programme is almost complete (www.business-conference-emva.org).

At the time of this newsletter, it would not be possible to hold the conference, nor would it be reasonably possible to carry it out. However, EMVA is in constant contact with the responsible authorities, so that we can react immediately to changes in the situation. We intend to inform prior to April 4th, whether the EMVA Business Conference will be cancelled, postponed or being held in an alternative form.

Automated, GAMP-compliant production monitoring in the pharmaceutical industry

Image

Digitalisation does not stop at the pharmaceutical industry. The use of new technologies opens up opportunities for process optimisation along the entire life cycle of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical products, from research into new active substances and therapies to production, packaging, distribution and application. However, digital innovation not only offers many opportunities, but also poses major challenges for the industry due to the strong regulation of drug production.
Because anyone who violates guidelines when developing drugs or medical devices not only puts a lot of money and his reputation at risk, but also the health of the patient. This makes it all the more important for companies to have access to reliable systems that support them in complying with legal requirements such as Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP). BAUMER
10 GigE cameras with 3rd generation Sony Pregius CMOS sensors

Image Greater sensitivity, improved image quality, and frame rates of more than 1500 fps – six new LXT cameras with resolutions from 0.5 to 7.1 megapixels combine 3rd generation Sony Pregius CMOS sensors with 10 GigE, thus allowing considerable performance improvements. With a pixel size of 4.5 or 9 µm, the cameras offer very high sensitivity. This way, they provide better support for applications with a short exposure time or NIR illumination, for example. The exceptionally high image quality with an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of 44 dB (pixel size 4.5 µm) facilitates stable image evaluation even under difficult conditions, e.g., applications with a very high light intensity such as laser welding or in sports and motion analysis with fluctuating illumination conditions.
